Atletico Madrid Rebuff Substantial Offer for Roma Target

If Roma thought the arrival of Atletico Madrid teen sensation Samu Omorodion would come cheap, they’ll need to think again. According to Fabrizio Romano, Los Colchoneros turned down a significant €35 million bid from West Ham United a fortnight ago.

Roma have reportedly identified the 20-year-old as a long-term alternative to Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at the Stadio Olimpico. Unfortunately, the cash-strapped Giallorossi couldn’t sign the Chelsea outcast permanently this summer.

With Tammy Abraham also linked with a potential departure, Roma are in the market for at least two attacking reinforcements. Manager Daniele De Rossi has earmarked unsettled Juventus forward Federico Chiesa as a dream signing. But he’s not a classic striker.

On the other hand, Omorodion possesses impressive physical attributes. He’s 6ft4 and boasts stunning speed. In addition to his aerial prowess, the prodigious forward is hard to deal with on the ground. He is a prototype of a modern-day center-forward.

Roma would benefit from a player of his characteristics. It would allow De Rossi to build on his tactics, considering the youngster is similar to Lukaku. However, Atletico Madrid might opt against selling their sought-after talent after Alvaro Morata opened up on his desire to leave.

While Omorodion’s price could prove prohibitive for Roma, Morata might be a realistic option. He’s available at a reasonable price, plus he’s familiar with Serie A after two separate spells at Juventus. There’s a feeling the Giallorossi could do business with Atletico Madrid this summer.
