Since Romelu Lukaku joined Roma on loan from Chelsea, it’s been clear his inevitable return to Inter would be a hellish experience. The Giuseppe Meazza faithful had hoped to put the 30-year-old through a psychological rollercoaster when the two sides meet on Sunday

Inter fans planned to bring 30,000 whistles to the stadium and use them whenever Lukaku touches the ball. However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan police commissioner Giuseppe Petronzi has banned the whistles inside the stadium.

After holding discussions with the Inter chiefs and local authorities, Petronzi has made up his month, which won’t go well with the Nerazzurri supporters. Regardless of the whistle ban, there’s no doubt the whole stadium will boo Lukaku.

The Belgian striker tarnished his relationship with Iner during the summer transfer window. Holding secret meetings with Juventus while discussing a reunion at Meazza infuriated the Lombard hierarchy.

As a result, Inter pulled out of talks, forcing Lukaku to search for alternatives. Roma came to his rescue down the final stretch of the transfer window, offering the ex-Manchester United flop a lifeline in Serie A. He has repaid that trust with a stellar for at the Stadio Olimpico, quickly soaking up the limelight as Jose Mourinho’s standout performer.

Lukaku has been one of the best-performing players in Serie A this past couple of months. Inter must have scouted his progress, as they’ll need to pay special attention to their former star this Saturday.
