Bad Blood Between Lazio Manager Sarri and Spanish Midfielder

Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio tenure hasn’t gone according to plan as the Biancocelesti have experienced a fair share of ups and downs this campaign already. The former Napoli manager recently explained why Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto cannot function together, saying that the latter is better suited for slower tempo games.

However, the matter seems to be much more intense as reports have emerged of a strained relationship between the Italian manager and the Spanish midfielder.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24), there is ‘bad blood’ between the two. During one of the club’s previous training sessions during the international break, a heated confrontation is said to have taken place that led to the Spaniard being benched for three consecutive matches against Inter, Marseille and Hellas Verona.

He is touted to be benched once again as Lazio prepare to face Fiorentina.

Alberto flourished under former tactician Simone Inzaghi but now has been relegated to the bench, which potentially means an opening to leave the club might emerge in the January winter transfer window for him.
