Barcelona and Chelsea Keeping Tabs on Juventus Midfielder

On the heels of a disappointing season, this summer is expected to bring a host of changes at Juventus. From the top management, to the coach and all the way to the players, very few people are safe inside the black and white house. Amongst the names who are now considered to be dependable, we find Adrien Rabiot who is reportedly followed by both Barcelona and Chelsea.

The Frenchman signed for the Old Lady in 2019 as a free agent after seeing out his contract with Paris Saint Germain. However, his performances have been far from consistent during his first two seasons in Turin.

Therefore, a divorce could be on the table this summer, as according to Calciomercato, his mother/agent Veronique has opened up transfer talks with the Catalan giants.

Before sealing his transfer to Juventus two years ago, Rabiot was close to joining Barcelona instead, and thus, this move might take place after all – unless Chelsea manage to sabotage it.

During his last appearance with the French national team, the Bianconeri player was full of praise for his international teammate and Blues star N’Golo Kanté.

“He never stops. It’s easy to play alongside him,” said Rabiot.

Moreover, current Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel – who previously coached him at PSG – highlighted his potential back in August 2018.

” For me he is a great player and can become a top midfielder,” stated the German tactician.

As for Juventus, they wouldn’t object the chance of parting ways with one of their highest earners (7 million euros per season) whose performances on the pitch are yet to justify his high salary.

The Italian club’s asking price is expected to be around 20 millions, which would be considered a capital gain for a player who arrived on a Bosman deal.
