Barcelona Misfit Reportedly Offered to Milan and Inter

Franck Kessié is discontent with his lack of playing time at Barcelona, and his agent George Atangana touched base with Milan and Inter to assess their interest. The Rossoneri replied negatively, as they were irked about how he departed. La Beneamata didn’t say no outright, but the transfer is very complicated, TuttoSport informs.

The Ivorian midfielder earns €6.5M, which is the de facto salary cap for the Nerazzurri. They would be open to bringing him in on loan if the Blaugrana significantly contributed to his wages. They would basically replicate the deal they arranged with Chelsea for the return of Romelu Lukaku.

Unlike Inter, Milan quickly shut the door when offered Kessié. They are unwilling to take him back. Their directors are still at odds with his agent considering his behavior during the contract negotiations. The midfielder famously departed San Siro on a Bosman move.

He has featured in just 13 of the 20 seasonal matches so far for a total of 485 minutes. His representative denied they were considering an early departure in recent interviews, but he appears to be working towards it behind the scenes. The 25-year-old should have robust market in the Premier League.

Our Take on Kessié, Inter, and Milan

It would be a masterstroke for the Nerazzurri, which would sign a star for cheap, adding to a midfield that already has a ton of quality. The Scudetto winners and Juventus, if they sold Weston McKennie, would benefit more from such signing from the technical standpoint, but the posture of his former team is very understandable. Still, there’s no reason why Barcelona would cut bait on him so soon. Plus, they’d have better chance of cashing in on him in England.
