Barcelona Reach Verbal Agreement for Milan Midfield Ace Kessie

Barcelona have reportedly reached a ‘full agreement’ for Milan midfield talisman Franck Kessie on a free transfer at the end of the season. The Rossoneri seemed to have given up on the idea of extending the Ivorian’s contract at San Siro, given his high wage demands.

The versatile central midfielder is on the verge of signing a contract deal with Barcelona, according to reports emerging from Barcelona on Monday. The player’s agent George Atangana reportedly struck a verbal agreement with the Blaugrana management, indicating the change in player’s allegiances when his contract expires in June 30.

He will become Barcelona’s second transfer of the summer, ahead of the 2022/23 season, after the Spanish giants reportedly agreed on a deal with Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.

According to reports from Calciomercato, the Ivorian could not resist the charm of playing under legendary Blaugrana midfielder Xavi Hernandez, especially after the Spaniard himself spoke to Kessie over call and assured him as a consistent starter in his game plans.

The Catalonian club have fended off interested from Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, despite the English clubs offering him a much more lucrative wage package.

The Rossoneri will beat themselves over the fact that they will bid goodbye to one of their most valuable players for free in the summer. Kessie is worth €45m, according to transfermarkt.

However, should Kessie help Milan win their first Scudetto title in over a decade, he will leave San Siro a hero and the club will count him as one of the best pieces of transfer business in recent times, after bringing him to Lombardy from Atalanta for €24m in 2019.
