Barcelona Rekindle Interest in Juventus Misfit Adrien Rabiot

Barcelona have reignited their interest in out-of-sorts Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. According to ilBianconero, the Catalan powerhouse will launch a summer assault on their long-term target.

Juventus are known for spotting value buys and then going on to sell those players for a substantial profit. More specifically, Bianconeri‘s strategy of signing top-class free agents and offloading them at the peak of their market value has been a trend under Beppe Marotta and now Fabio Paratici.

Rabiot could be the next player to fall victim to Juve’s strict transfer policy after falling to leave a mark in Turin. Since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain on a free, the French midfielder has encountered all sorts of problems settling in the environment.

It is fair to say that the 25-year-old enjoyed a notable improvement this season compared to 2019-20, but it is not near the impact on the play the Juventus hierarchy has been hoping for.

After enduring a thoroughly underwhelming season on multiple fronts, Andrea Pirlo is looking to overhaul his squad in the summer. In addition to acquiring new purchases, the reigning Italian champions will be looking to get rid of the deadwood.

Unfortunately, Rabiot could find himself in a group of players destined to leave the Allianz Stadium.

Elsewhere, Barcelona will undergo changes at the end of the season following another premature Champions League exit.

Sergio Busquets is not getting younger, with Frenkie de Jong and Pedri yet to find consistency at Camp Nou.

Barcelona initially hoped Miralem Pjanic would bring in a quantum leap in the quality, but things have turned out to be quite the opposite.

The former Juventus playmaker has struggled for game time under Ronald Koeman, let alone became a difference-maker following his blockbuster arrival last summer.

Koeman wants to inject fresh blood into his depleted midfield and has already named Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum his top target for the summer.

The Dutchman was keen to bring his compatriot to La Liga last summer, but Barcelona’s attempts to land the 30-year-old fell on the Reds’ deaf ears.

At this point, Rabiot seems to be only a back-up option if Barca‘s pursuit of the former Newcastle United man fails to come to fruition.
