Barcelona forward Ferran Torres was inches away from moving to Juventus in 2020, but Manchester City beat the Bianconeri to seal a deal with Valencia for the 22-year-old – his agent has revealed.
Hector Peris Ros, the player’s agent, revealed the background of the deal to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato). Apparently, Torres was even close to buying a home in Turin during the summer of 2020, just days before City came through with a convincing offer.

According to Peris Ros, Juventus and Valencia failed to reach to an agreement for a transfer fee, which then prompted the Manchester natives to take control of proceedings. They signed him for €23M as he inherited the number 21 jersey previously worn by club legend David Silva.
Peris Ros is also the agent of Alfonso Pedraza – the Villarreal wingback – who is linked with a move to Juventus.
Torres spent two seasons in the Premier League, scoring 16 goals rom 43 appearances before jumping ship to Barcelona, who bought him for €55M plus conditional add-ons worth €10M.
