Barella Has Already Signed His New Inter Contract

Nicolò Barella is set to be the first of the trifecta of renewals that will be announced by Inter soon. As a matter of fact, the star midfielder has already put pen to paper on his new contract. Only the formal statement is missing. It should arrive before the Euro but without much fanfare due to the upcoming international tournament, Corriere dello Sport informs (via OneFootball).

The parties had already come to terms a while back, but the ownership change delayed everything. The vice-captain showed remarkable attachment to the team and didn’t pound the table for a conspicuous pay bump.

Barella and Inter have concurred on a new deal that will run until 2029. The ace will pocket €6.5M plus add-ons, €500k more than his previous contract. If he sees it out, he’ll have stayed at the club for ten years.

Lautaro Martinez and Simone Inzaghi will be next on the docket for the Nerazzurri. They have struck an agreement on principle with the striker and are ironing out the other details.

Our Take on Inter and Barella

It’s quite the bargain, as he could have easily earned a lot more abroad, but that has really never been an option for him. Thanks to their recent success and the cautious yet savvy financial approach by their front office, La Beneamata has started a truly virtuous cycle in the last couple of years, and Oaktree better not mess with what’s working just fine, and the early indications are they won’t.
