Bari Director Polito Hands Cheddira Transfer Boost for Napoli

Earlier last week, it was reported how Napoli and Bari patron Aurelio De Laurentiis is planning to execute a transfer between the two clubs for Morocco revelation Walid Cheddira. The striker’s future has been reflected on by Bari sporting director Ciro Polito, who has not ruled out a move in the summer transfer window.

“Walid is a player who has a contract with us and has expressed a very strong will to continue with Bari, then we’ll see later. Anything can happen in the summer, he also played in a World Cup and it’s normal who has the ambition to grow and play in Serie A.” (via TuttoNapoli)

The Serie B outfit are currently looking to revamp their squad ahead of a faint possibility of returning back to Serie A next season, given their fifth position in the league.

“I don’t think about what will happen, when we reach the end we will draw a line. If players are sold, we will reinvest to make the team even stronger. Bari has the right mix of young and experienced players, and has the basis for building a squad in the future. There are many strong players we have to believe in, then time will tell.”

Napoli have kept close tabs on Cheddira since his emergence at the FIFA World Cup 2022, but other top-flight teams such as Torino and Sampdoria have also expressed interest in signing him. Apart from Cheddira, 21-year-old goalkeeper Elia Caprile is also on the Napoli shortlist.
