Bastoni Definitely Puts Rumors of Inter Exit to Rest

Alessandro Bastoni was tipped to leave Inter early in the summer before PSG came knocking for Milan Skriniar. He was subsequently taken off the market, which will not change even though the teammate might stay.

The defender spoke clearly to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The way the club acted meant a lot to me. I have never had any doubt about departing. I have everything to perform up to my full potential here, as I am very comfortable with my teammates and the directors and I love Milan. Why would I leave? I am thrilled to stay and I envision myself spending many years here. Hopefully with a few more trophies.”

Bastoni commented on Romelu Lukaku returning at Inter.

“He is the same wonderful person he was when he left and a great striker. I was impressed by his choice. When you feel good in a place, you want to go back. It is natural and human. We welcomed him back with open arms and no regrets. Our style will not change. We will continue to be proactive, offensive-minded and courageous like last season. We hope he will bag loads of goals as he has always done.”

The center-back touched on the top contenders.

Juventus are much stronger now, I think they are our most fearsome enemy. The signed many top players. They are back into the title picture, but we never left. We are aware of our qualities. We won two years ago and we can repeat.”

Bastoni believes Inter will be stronger than in the previous campaign.

“We have been together for longer, so the mechanisms and the chemistry get better. We can aim at doing well in every competition. The physical element will be key given the grueling 2022/2023 schedule.”
