Inter have cruised to the top of Serie A standings as winter champions, recording 46 points from 19 games, and comfortably ahead of Milan and Napoli. Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri have also managed to record 32 victories in 2021 – the second-highest in a calendar year behind Juventus’ 2016 tally of 33.
Most recently, Inter managed to edge a narrow victory over Torino and extend their lead over familiar foes, taking them to seven consecutive wins in Serie A.
Defender Alessandro Bastoni has credited coach Inzaghi for making the team stronger and harder for opponents to deal with.
Speaking to broadcaster DAZN (via SempreInter), Bastoni reveled in Inter’s current position.
“I’m a defender. We haven’t conceded a goal for many days after a rough start. We worked on it a lot and we are defending very well. We come onto the pitch, we enjoy ourselves and entertain the fans. But the most important thing is that we won and we have had a perfect month.”
He went on to add how impactful Inzaghi’s presence has been on the team’s mentality.
“It is Inzaghi’s influence that gives us unpredictability that we might have missed a little last season,” he explained.
In a bid to win the first ever league title of his managerial career, Inzaghi has undoubtedly carried on Inter’s winning momentum from last season.
