Jonathan Tah will be courted by a host of teams throughout the season as his contract expires in June, and Inter will be one of them as they will potentially look for a new piece in the back next summer. However, Bayer Leverkusen haven’t given up on keeping ahold of their star.
Their director Fernando Carro spoke to the press after the recent game against Milan (via Tuttomercatoweb).
“Simon Rolfes and I are in touch with him and talk about a few things. He said in a presser that he’s fine with us. He’s a great professional and is handling well a situation that’s not easy for him and us. We’re extremely happy with him. He’s one of the players that’s been here the longest.”
Tah sidestepped the questions about Inter and a potential Bosman transfer before the Champions League clash.
“I’m comfortable here and have adapted. I have a good relationship with everybody, so I can say that all is well.”

They would get a little younger, as he’s under 30 unlike Stefan De Vrij and Francesco Acerbi, and nab another top-shelf contributor for zilch if they were successful, but it’s nothing more than a rumor so far. They had set up their previous free-agent signings before the Oaktree takeover, so it remains to be seen whether the owners impose to pursue talents only again as they did in the search for a defender.
It’d be surprising if he stayed, as players of his caliber rarely enter the final year of his contract and then extend it. On the other hand, he’s likely to end up at Bayern Munich like a lot of Bundesliga aces frequently do.
