Matthijs De Ligt is nearing the exit door at Juventus as talks with Bayern Munich proceed at a steady pace. The Dutchman has long been the subject of great transfer interest from not only the German champions, but also Chelsea. Despite interest from the English powerhouse, the center-back has reached a verbal agreement with the Bavarians, but their opening €60M plus €10M in bonuses bid was rejected outright.
Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidizic has provided an update on the club’s attempt to sign the highly-rated defender from the Bianconeri ranks after holding talks with the Italian club’s management.

Speaking to German outlet Bild the ex-Juventus man shed light on the ongoing negotiations between the two clubs.
“It was important for me that we sat down at a table with the managers Arrivabene, Cherubini and Nedved. I have been there as a player for four years and I have a good relationship with them. We had two meetings, now we have to be patient and see what happens.”
Salihamidizic is confident regarding striking a deal soon enough with the Bianconeri.
“I think we’re in a good position at the moment and that makes it easier on the transfer market. We’ll do what’s best for our team.”
The Turin giants want nothing short of €80-100M including add-ons and bonuses despite him possessing a release clause of €120M. He has a contract until June 2024. It is understood that Juventus are attempting to talk De Ligt into staying put, which would force Bayern Munich to revisit the saga back in 2023.
