Piotr Zielinski is undergoing a rough patch at Napoli currently, after having played a key part in securing Poland’s berth in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The troubles of Luciano Spalletti’s team are only getting stronger as the end of the season nears, with the Partenopei essentially handing away their say in what ‘was’ a three-way title race.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has not recorded a goal or assist in Serie A since last December and has virtually seen his game time reduce since the turn of the year. Moreover, the Italian media has not been kind to the Polish forward’s exploits in Naples, accusing him of being more of a psychological burden than technical one in Spalletti’s ranks, as relayed by Polish outlet Wprost. Nonetheless, he is not short of suitors if he does make a move away from Serie A.

According to latest reports from La Repubblica (via TuttoNapoli), Zielinski has been enquired about by German heavyweights Bayern Munich. The Pole sees his Napoli contract expire in the summer of 2024 and his €50m transfermarkt value will certainly make interested teams think twice before shelling the handsome fee.

Having been brought into the Serie A spotlight by Udinese when he was just 17, after the Friuli scouted him during an international youth tournament, Zielinski has grown leaps and bounds with the Partenopei, scoring 39 goals in 277 appearances since joining from Empoli in 2016.

However, he has experienced a subpar current campaign, registering seven goals and five assists in the 38 caps for Napoli – playing approximately 2,500 minutes in total.
