Bayern Munich Join Race for Napoli Star Pursued by Manchester Clubs

Bayern Munich are the latest top European team to show interest in Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, however their initial evaluation of the player has been considered too low, Tuttosport reported. The German giants are willing to spend €45M for the Senegalese center-back, but the Azzurri are looking to fetch a higher sum.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis recently met with the intermediary Fali Ramadami, who represents Nikola Maksimovic and previously worked to bring Maurizio Sarri to Chelsea. While nothing seems imminent on the coaching front, especially after they beat Benevento Sunday, the agent relayed to the owner that Bayern Munich are looking for a defender and that Koulibaly made the list of possible targets.

Despite already securing the signing for Dayot Upacemano, the reigning Bundesliga champions anticipate both David Alaba and Jerome Boateng leaving and the club at the end of their expiring contracts and will therefore make another addition in that role.

After Napoli rejected every offer in recent years, Koulibaly is expected to leave Napoli this summer and has been previously linked to Manchester City, Manchester United and PSG. The Partenopei were looking for bids north of €80M in the past, given the current economic conjecture and the age of the player, will have to settle for less, although they are already trying to fuel a bidding war.

As for Maksimovic, the talks to extend his deal, which is up in June, have not progressed and he, like Elseid Hysaj, is expected to transfer on a free. He is on the radar of several outfits, including Inter, Tottenham and Everton, Il Mattino reported.
