Bayern Munich Set to Beat Milan for Touted Prospect

Milan have been after Assan Ouédraogo for a couple of years but stopped pursuing him ahead of the summer window, and Bayern Munich are in the driver’s seat to acquire him from Schale 04 now. The Bavarians could sign him and let him spend a season on loan at his current team, Relevo’s Matteo Moretto informs.

The 18-year-old has a €12M release clause in his contract. He didn’t manage to stay healthy this campaign, playing just 17 matches in the Zweite Bundesliga. He has logged 3 goals and 2 assists and couldn’t participate in the U-17 World Cup in Autumn, which would have been one further showcase for him, due to a serious ankle injury.

Milan gave up the chase because Ouédraogo is represented by the same agency as Matija Popovic. The Serbian talent was in talks to join the Rossoneri on a free in January. However, the club refused to comply with some late requests by his entourage and moved on. He signed with Monza through Napoli, where he’ll go in the summer, instead.

According to Calciomercato, the Scudetto runner-ups still intend to bolster the midfielder. They are dueling with Juventus and other teams to snap up Youssuf Fofana. However, Monaco’s valuation, €25M, is substantial for a player with just a year on his contract.

Our Take on Milan and Ouédraogo

It would have been a nice coup given the relatively low fee and his upside, but that’s the price of being hardliners, which has its pros in other instances.
