Bayern Munich Star Has One Condition to Join Inter

Bayern Munich star Yann Sommer won’t mind joining Inter as long as they can guarantee him a regular starting berth. As reported by Sky Sports Deutschland, via FCInterNews, the 34-year-old is open to the prospect of replacing Manchester United-bound Andre Onana but on one condition.

Sommer’s future at the Allianz Arena heavily relies on Manuel Neuer’s ongoing recovery. If the German veteran returns to full fitness for the 2023/24 season, he’ll likely move to the bench. But the former Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper is reluctant to play second fiddle to anyone.

And if Inter can assure him of regular first-team football, he’ll be ready to switch to Serie A. Onana’s big-money move to Man Utd looks inevitable despite the Italians’ massive effort to fend off the Red Devils’ relentless pursuit of the ex-Ajax shot-stopper. Unfortunately, replacing a player of the Cameroonian’s stature won’t be easy.

Inter must be aware of that, as they intend to sign a couple of goalkeepers to make up for Onana’s imminent departure. Shakhtar Donetsk’s Anatoliy Trubin features Beppe Marotta’s shortlist close to the top. But the 21-year-old could be the one for the future.

Therefore, Inter are keen to land a more experienced option, especially with long-serving captain Samir Handanovic leaving the club as a free agent. Sommer, who has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga in the past decade, perfectly fits the bill.

Bayern’s potential asking price for the Swiss international remains the only uncertainty.
