Bayern Tactician Nagelsmann Backs Inter to Go Deep in UCL Knockouts

Bayern Munich manger Julian Nagelsmann is proud of his side’s progress to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, undefeated throughout their six group games. To cap off their 100% win record, Die Roten ousted Inter 2-0 at the Allianz Arena, but the coach maintains that Inter are a tough nut to crack, backing them to go deep into the competition.

Speaking to Sky Sport (via FCInterNews), Nagelsmann shed light on his side’s progress through the group of death unscathed following the win over the Nerazzurri.

“You can’t expect to dominate a Champions League group like this, but you try. We had luck, even in Milan and with Barça. But in the end, we were the best team in the group and it wasn’t easy to stay at such a high level.”

He further backed Inter to keep up the momentum, praising them to be favorites for the tournament victory come June 2023.

“Inter could go a long way in the Champions League, just like us, but in the knockout phase you have to keep the tension high in the two matches. They are a great opponent, and when you pass such a tough group, you can undoubtedly be among the favorites for the final win.”

Inter could meet Porto, Tottenham, Chelsea or Manchester City in the first knockout stage. The draw for the last 16 will be held on Monday, November 7.
