Belgium Team Doctor Worried for Returning Lukaku Ahead of World Cup

Romelu Lukaku returns back into playing ways when Inter host Viktoria Plzen at the Giuseppe Meazza in the fifth round of the UEFA Champions League group stages. The Belgian was ruled out for six weeks with a thigh injury, missing a good chunk of 12 matches throughout the period.

Kristof Sas, the team doctor of the Belgium national team, granted an interview to Het Laatse Nieuws (via Calciomercato) and announced the worry surrounding Lukaku’s form coming into the World Cup that starts in less than a month.

“From a medical point of view, he will be ready for the World Championship in Qatar, but it is a race against time to bring him to a good level of form.”

Lukaku is expected to be back on the bench for the Viktoria Plzen clash, with Edin Dzeko expected to start upfront with Lautaro Martinez. A win will grant the Nerazzurri all three points and qualification to the Round of 16.
