Belotti Euphoric Following Olimpico Ovation in Salzburg Win

Two quickfire goals put RB Salzburg to the sword at the Stadio Olimpico yesterday, as Roma overturned a one-goal deficit to qualify for the UEFA Europa League last 16 stage. A poacher’s finish by Andrea Belotti set things in motion for the Giallorossi before Paulo Dybala volleyed home the winner before half-time.

Speaking to the press in his post-match conference (via VoceGiallorossa), Belotti sounded ecstatic to have played a winning part in propelling Roma through to the next knockout round.

“I think this is my best match at Roma so far, and I’m very happy because it’s a very important match. We had prepared well; qualification is well deserved and I think it showed on the pitch.”

Belotti was greeted with an ovation and a round of applause by the Roma faithful

“I didn’t expect it, hearing people screaming my name is something magical. I try to give my all, I always want to win. People understand this.”

Tammy Abraham poses a threat to the striker’s spot under Jose Mourinho, but Belotti is least bit worried.

“When I chose Roma, I knew this was the situation. I knew I was coming to a strong team and I wanted to get involved. Tammy is a really strong striker, my will has always been to improve myself. I want to give everything, the important thing is to always be ready because we all win together.”

Belotti and co. take on Real Sociedad next in the Europa League, with the first leg scheduled at Stadio Olimpico before the Giallorossi visit Anoeta Stadium a week later.
