Milan mayor Beppe Sala wants to fix the historic San Siro and bring it to its best possible state, but due to opposition from the two patron clubs, it is far from an attainable objective. The iconic Italian arena has been subject to repeated talk to being demolished and so far no step has been taken. However, it might not be long before it is brought down to dust.
Interviewed during the ceremony for the delivery of the Ambrogini d’Oro, Sala took the chance to reiterate his ambition.
“My favorite hypothesis was and continues to be fixing the San Siro but if the teams don’t want to hear about it, I can’t violate their rights.” (via Calciomercato)
Both Milan and Inter are in favor for the erection of a brand new stadium. Recent meetings with executives indicate that it will be long before a new solution is agreed upon, which will not certainly favor the existing legendary stadium.
