Bernardeschi Reveals Napoli Approach, Praises Kvaratskhelia

Former Juventus ace Federico Bernardeschi does not regret moving to Canada to play with Toronto FC despite having the chance to stay put in Italy. Napoli were one of the teams on Bernardeschi’s trail, but the EURO 2020 winner instead chose to leave his home country for a Major League Soccer adventure.

Speaking to Il Mattino (via TuttoNapoli) in an exclusive interview, the enigmatic left-footed winger revealed the details behind his Bianconeri exit.

“I could also have stayed in Italy, I spoke to De Laurentiis and the Napoli hypothesis would have pleased me. I would have felt wonderful in Spalletti’s 4-3-3: but I chose Toronto because I’m sure of the level of this tournament.”

Bernardeschi also shed light on the revelation of Napoli ace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

“Kvaratskhelia is impressive. Those who play football understand that he’s a phenomenon. He has the typical approach of great champions.”

The Georgian wonderkid was signed by the Partenopei as part of a squad revamp following the departures of several important players, including club legend Lorenzo Insigne, who now plays alongside Bernardeschi in Toronto.
