Besiktas Keep Pursuing Roma Loanee Renato Sanches

Renato Sanches will return to the squad list for Roma-Cagliari after a month on the shelf with an ankle sprain, but it’s not yet certain he’ll finish the season in the Italian capital. Besiktas are after him. The transfer market closes on February 9th in Turkey.

According to SportDigitale (via Alfredo Pedullà) and Calciomercato.it, the midfielder is starting to show interest in the destination. He didn’t push to depart in previous weeks. Very few teams targeted him.

Renato Sanches would reunite with former Portugal coach Fernando Santos if he accepted the transfer. Besiktas are negotiating with PSG, as he’s on loan to Roma. The Giallorossi spent a €1M initial fee. They’d be forced to redeem him for €11M if he featured in 55% of their matches, which is a long shot.

The 26-year-old has starred nine times so far, missing time with a few thigh injuries. New coach Daniele De Rossi addressed him in his pre-game presser.

“Renato Sanches is feeling better. He has practiced with us all week and completed his recovery. Then, we have to be careful because he was out, but he will be called up. From what I’ve seen, he’s doing well, he made himself available. The staff was treating him before I came. He’s serene. I can’t speak about the past.”

Our Take on Roma and Renato Sanches

They probably wouldn’t mind if somebody took him off their hands, but being unable to replace him would still be suboptimal.
