The Rossoneri decided to overhaul their right wing by signing Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze, which made Junior Messias and the Belgian international expendable. The Brazilian joined Genoa on loan with an obligation to buy.

While he’s an okay player, other than for the additions, he paid the price for the tactical switch, as they no longer need somebody with a high work rate in his role, and for the fact that they never went all the way in turning him into a fullback, which could have perhaps worked. They acquired him for €10M three years ago, so the fee shouldn’t be a big roadblock.
