Bidding War About to Begin for Unsettled Milan Youngster

Milan could cut ties with the Maldini family. After firing their legendary captain Paolo last year, the Rossoneri could offload his son Daniel in the coming months. According to Calciomercato, three Serie A sides are closely monitoring the youngster’s situation at San Siro.

Daniel Maldini spent last season on loan at Monza. Following an injury-hit start to his spell at the Brianteo Stadium, the 22-year-old found his footing, collecting four goals and one assist in 18 Serie A games. His occasional flashes of brilliance have convinced the Biancorossi chiefs to offer him a permanent deal.

However, the lack of funds has curtailed Monza’s hopes of signing the versatile forward. Maldini will return to Milan but only to move on. Atalanta and Roma have joined Monza in the race to price the talented Italian out of the Rossoneri. Now, there’s a fourth party in the picture.

Roma’s fiercest rivals, Lazio, are considering a swoop for the Milan misfit. It would take around €10 million to persuade the Serie A runners-up to sanction a deal. Unless they receive a satisfying offer, they could try to extend Maldini’s contract, which expires in 2025.

Maldini’s representative, Giuseppe Riso, has scheduled a meeting with Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani to understand the club’s plans for his client. Despite his famous origins and undeniable potential, Maldini has never had a real chance to prove his worth at Milan.

That’s perhaps why he’ll leave San Siro for good this summer.
