Bologna Ace Joshua Zirkzee Put All Talks on Hold Until the End of Euros

Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee has reportedly urged his entourage to put all negotiations on hold until the end of the 2024 European Championship. Despite being an unused substitute in the Netherlands’ three group-stage matches in Germany, the 23-year-old doesn’t want distractions amid his country’s bid to conquer the tournament.

According to Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo, Zirkzee looks to use Euro 2024 to buy time before making any decision on his future amid intense speculation linking him with Milan. In addition to the Rossoneri, several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, have taken an interest in the Bologna starlet

With Milan stunned by Zirkzee’s agent Kia Joorabchian’s stratospheric commission demands of around €15 million, the Red Devils are reportedly contemplating a swoop for the Bologna talisman. However, the Dutchman already has a verbal agreement with last season’s Serie A runners-up, who are ready to trigger his €40m release clause.

Zirkzee was one of the protagonists of the 2023/24 campaign, racking up 11 goals and four assists to help Bologna secure Champions League qualification against the odds. But with Thiago Motta gone and lucrative offers from top clubs from Italy and abroad, the ex-Bayern Munich forward seems destined to leave Renato Dall’Ara in the coming months.

Milan have identified Zirkzee as their prime target to replace Olivier Giroud. Yet, the Bologna striker may not necessarily join Paulo Fonseca’s team. Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku is also on the Rossoneri’s shortlist, and the Belgium international is allegedly open to moving to San Siro.
