Bologna CEO Fenucci Hints at Upcoming Motta Extension

Bologna chief Claudio Fenucci has applauded the Rossoblù’s improvement in recent matchdays, following an ecstatic 3-0 win over Empoli thanks to Riccardo Orsolini’s match-winning hattrick.

“Morale is certainly high. A good victory came with Empoli and the enthusiasm in the city can be felt. We are pleased and the credit goes to the coach and the players who started the season well.”

There have been talks surrounding the potential extension of Thiago Motta’s stay at Bologna, given his current deal expires in the summer of 2024. Fenucci stressed on the importance of privacy surrounding negotiations.

“We are talking about it with him and with president Joey Saputo, as you know we will not do the negotiations at a media level, and, when there is something to communicate, we will do so. We would be happy to continue together.”

Fenucci also echoed comments from Motta regarding the refereeing decisions going against Bologna in recent games.

“There is disappointment, we could have won the match (against Juventus) and we deserved to take it home. We have already expressed our disappointment about the refereeing errors in Turin and I know that the leaders are sorry. The VAR serves to avoid serious errors and when they occur we must intervene, while still letting the referee work.”
