Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci has urged for patience as hopes of a European finish rise in the historic city following impressive performances of late. Having defeated Lazio and now unbeaten in 12 matches across all competitions, the confidence is gradually rising among Thiago Motta’s men, but Fenucci has asked the team to tread lightly.
In an exclusive with Radio Anch’io Sport (via TuttoBolognaweb), the executive took stock of Bologna’s situation ahead of the derby against Fiorentina.
“The merits of the coach are there for all to see. The team has been strengthened and completed and Thiago is continuing to shape this group of boys. We are very happy with this start to the season and now we are already projected towards the Apennine Derby on Sunday. Let’s think game by game.”
On the hopes of making it to Europe next season.
“There is a palpable enthusiasm in Bologna. Our people are happy and so are we. The journey is long and we are already focused on the difficult match in Florence. Match after match, we will see if it is possible to build a dream.”
Fenucci is hopeful of Motta signing a contract extension as the manager continues to impress at the Dall’Ara.
“We are working on it and we are talking about it with him, but it is a negotiation that we do not want to jump upon. We would be very happy to continue the relationship with him and together we could achieve something that has been difficult to do in Bologna in the recent period even if we have always ended with decent results. With the work of Thiago, we managed to raise our level of competitiveness. I would like to have a long relationship with the coach and I also think Thiago is happy in Bologna.”
