Bologna Director Sartori Takes Stock of Transfer Market

Bologna sporting director Giovanni Sartori has taken stock of the club’s transfer market exploits this summer. The Rossoblù welcomed 11 new signings, including three loan transfers, who Thiago Motta will now look to incorporate in his season plans after a shaky start.

During the press conference to present ex-Milan man Alexis Saelmaekers, Sartori spoke in length to the press (via Tuttomercatoweb) of Bologna’s plans.

“We met clubs that extended negotiations and almost made us lose patience. We held firm though, and now everything is closed. Negotiations set for January? We have some ideas, then we will continue with the scouting work as usual. For the winter, we will see based on the ideas and opportunities.”

Sartori then disclosed the saga behind Riccardo Orsolini and Nicolas Dominguez.

“It was a long negotiation with Orsolini, we gave ourselves a pause for reflection to finish the championship well. I never had any doubts. But for Dominguez, I knew he wouldn’t stay.”

He then reflected on the club’s dealings on a whole.

“As I said last year, the base was good, it needed to be improved and rejuvenated. We’re waiting for the pitch and we’ll see if we do well or badly this season. Thiago said he was happy with the market in the end.”

Bologna have endured a mixed start to the new campaign, winning, drawing, and losing once in their opening three games so far.
