Bologna Exec Provides Updates on Zirkzee and Calafiori

Bologna are almost completely resigned to losing Joshua Zirkzee, while they’d like to keep Riccardo Calafiori, or eventually sell him to the highest bidders, which probably won’t be Juventus. At least that’s what their director Giovanni Sartori anticipates. He dished from Rimini during the formal opening of the summer window (via Mediaset).

“Zirkzee has a release clause, and there are 99,9 percent chances he will leave. We signed the defender 12 months ago and wish he would stay. Then, we’ll see how the market evolves. Juventus and many other teams are after him. Our goal is to resist for now. Should important requests arrive, we’ll have to ponder them. The president stuck his neck out saying he hoped to keep the whole squad, but we’ll surely make proper evaluations.”

“I don’t think Calafiori will join Juventus. He’ll probably move to a different country eventually. However, our first objective is to continue having him in the squad.”

Bologna won’t sign Robin Gosens after all despite multiple bids. Instead, they’ll bring in former Juan Miranda on a free to bolster their left flank, where they lost Viktor Kristiansen, who was on loan from Leicester City.

Sartori addressed their search for a new striker.

“We’ve been thinking about it for months because it won’t be easy to replace Zirkzee. We have some names in mind and will work on them. It’s our priority. We needed to bolster the defensive flanks, and we did it very quickly. Now we’ll press pause and see what the market has to offer. We must be ready.”
