Bologna Inquire About the Availability of Roma Attacker

Bologna might add a striker in January, and they are interested in Roma’s Sardar Azmoun, who hasn’t played much so far at Roma. While they plot to keep Joshua Zirkzee, they could move on from his backup Sidney Van Hooijdonk. The two forwards would be able to team up since they have complementary traits, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs (via Mediaset).

The Iranian international joined the Giallorossi on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen with a €12.5M option to buy. He has made eight appearances, all from the bench, scoring once. He wasn’t inserted in the UEFA list. The attacker has starred for half an hour at most.

Azmoun featured in some friendlies with Bayer Leverkusen before transferring but not in official matches, so he could still technically move to another team like Bologna. It’s forbidden to star for three clubs during the course of a campaign.

José Mourinho assessed the veteran after the Udinese match (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“He has the profile of a player I love, but he’s missing something to be truly one of my footballers, especially defensively. Using him, Paulo Dybala, and Romelu Lukaku from the start would affect our balance.”

Our Take on Bologna and Azmoun

It’d be an interesting addition given their caliber. He’d ideally take over after they cash in on Zirkzee down the line, but his wages might be a little too high for them. The Giallorossi better not mess with their depth in one of the few roles where they have it.
