Bologna Shortlist Milan Legend to Replace Manager Mihajlovic

Sinisa Mihajlovic’s second tenure as Bologna manager hasn’t gone according to plan, as he struggles to lead the Emilia-Romagna club into the top half of Serie A standings. Chairman Joey Saputo is reportedly not satisfied with Mihajlovic’s results in the league, although he brought in six players at the start of the campaign. The executive is disappointed at the fact that approximately 30m was spent by the club in the transfer market, but no returns have materialized yet.

Reports from Bolognasportnews.it (via MilanNews) indicate that the former Inter and Lazio midfielder will part ways at the end of the season and a certain Milan legend is in line to replace him in northern Italy. The name in contention to take over the Rossoblu dugout is ex-Rossoneri defensive half Gennaro Gattuso.

Rino Gattuso was last contracted to Fiorentina, but the two parties mutually ended up rescinding his contract agreement weeks before he was due to start his managerial spell in Florence.

His last club was Napoli, where he lasted from December 2019 to May 2021, managing 81 games for the Partenopei with a 56.8% win rate. Before Napoli, it was Milan who employed their hard-headed bull as the head coach for almost two years. He led the Rossoneri through 83 games, wherein he accumulated a 48.2% win rate during his tenure.
