Bologna Strike Swap Deal for Dominguez, Welcome Nottingham’s Freuler

Nottingham Forest have made a breakthrough in negotiations for Nicolas Dominguez in a swap deal involving Remo Freuler. The Bologna ace was hot in talks with the Rossoblù management concerning an extension but has instead chosen to continue his footballing journey in Nottinghamshire.

The transfer arrives just weeks after Bologna rejected Fenerbahce’s €13M offer, citing it unacceptable amid their €15-20M valuation of Dominguez. The Tricky Trees have not found it hard to strike a deal for the former Velez midfielder though, utilizing the leverage of ex-Atalanta ace Freuler moving the other way round.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the swap however will not weigh equally for the involved parties, and a figure is still being evaluated to finalize the deal after both players have agreed to move to their respective clubs on permanent transfers.

Bologna have finally come to terms with losing Dominguez on a transfer of similar magnitude and a sizeable fee than for free at the end of the season.

Our Take on the swap deal involving Dominguez and Freuler

Although losing Dominguez will be disappointing, Bologna can look forward to welcoming Freuler, who has already proved himself in Atalanta’s colors during his previous Serie A spell. His Calcio experience will certainly help Bologna in midfield, while Dominguez can look forward to starting a new and exciting journey in the Premier League.
