Bologna Talent Attracts Milan and Bayern Munich Attention

‘Hickey is a jewel’ headlines Calciomercato. The Scottish jewel has been an indispensable part of Bologna’s 2021/22 Serie A campaign, notching in 19 uninterrupted appearances and even scoring four goals in the process.

At just 19 years of age, Hickey is already being scouted by some of Europe’s elite – Bayern Munich, Celtic and Aston Villa were hot on his trail just before he made the switch to Emilia-Romagna, but he ended up choosing Bologna due to first-team promises.

Now, according to the aforementioned report, Bayern and Celtic are still contenders and are to sign the youngster, along with few other top clubs, such as Manchester City.

Nevertheless, an Italian giant’s name has resurfaced as a potential suitor for the highly-rated and versatile teenage talent. Milan and Paolo Maldini in particular is said to be keeping close tabs on the Scottish midfielder cum full-back, who was also linked to the Rossoneri before his Serie A move.

He moved to Bologna from Hearts of Midlothian for €1.7m – his current transfermarkt value stands at €8m, an almost fourfold increase in value in a year’s time.
