Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega has drawn interest from several Serie A clubs, with Bologna reportedly leading the race. According to Il Resto del Carlino, as reported by Radio Rossonera, the Rossoneri star is one of the four midfielders closely evaluated by the Rossoblu hierarchy ahead of the club’s maiden appearance in the Champions League.
Pobega climbed through the ranks at the Stadio San Siro before making his senior debut for Milan in 2018. However, the 25-year-old has never had a prominent role in the first team. After four loan spells at Ternana, Pordenone, Spezia, and Torino, he’s been part of the Rossoneri squad in the past two years.
His first-team opportunities under former manager Stefano Pioli were at a premium. Paulo Fonseca’s arrival will unlikely flip the script, considering the stiff competition for a place in the starting line-up at Milan. Therefore, the Serie A runners-up would probably listen to offers for their homegrown midfielder.
Bologna could be Pobega’s next destination. But he’s one of the four midfielders on Vincenzo Italiano’s shortlist. On top of that, the Rossoblu would have to allocate approximately €15 million to convince Milan to give their go-ahead.
Besides the Milan man, Marco Brescianini, Cesare Casadei, and Giulio Maggiore are the remaining players on Bologna’s radar. Brescianini’s potential move to Renato Dall’Ara would also benefit the Rossoneri as they hold a 50% resale clause.
Pobega’s sparse first-team chances could dwindle if Milan can complete their long-term pursuit of Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana. Therefore, the player may fancy a move.
