Bologna vs Napoli 0-2: Lozano and Ruiz Power the Azzurri

Napoli picked up the second win in a row as they did quick work of Bologna, earning some ground on the teams near them in the standings.

The Partenopei started well and had their first major chance after just five minutes. Fabian Ruiz found Hirving Lozano in the box with a lovely ball over the top. The Mexican attacker latched onto it with a flying deflection, but Lukasz Skuropski denied him with a great save.

El Chucky successfully broke through a quarter of an hour later. Ruiz teed up Elijf Elmas on the left flank, the youngster served a pinpoint square ball and Lozano tucked it home. The Napoli goal woke Bologna up, but they did not create any clear-cut chance. Mattias Svanberg tried to connect with Roberto Soriano in the box, but Alex Meret closed the gap in a hurry. The goalkeeper also saved a long-range attempt by Aaron Hickey. The Partenopei had the final chance of the first half with Ruiz rattling the woodwork with a cannon shot.

The Azzurri doubled the lead right after intermission. The Felsinei were too unbalanced on a set piece, and the opponents cooked up a deadly counter-attack. Piotr Zielinski conducted it, sprung loose Ruiz on the left wing and he set up Lozano with a low-driven cross that just needed to be nudged into the net.

The goal sealed the deal even though there was plenty of time to go. Bologna did not generate convincing offense, and Napoli held them in check. Hickey again bombed away from downtown, but it led to another easy save for Meret. The Rossoblù had their best opportunity in the stoppage time. Svanberg smashed the post on a free kick from outside the box. Victor Osimhen looked bouncy in 20 minutes in his return.
