Leonardo Bonucci has completed his move to Union Berlin. The defender, who had been frozen out at the beginning of the summer, eventually elected to join the Bundesliga outfit rather than wait for the Italian suitors until the last moment.
He dished on the move at the airport (via Fantacalcio).
“I’m focused on this great opportunity. I’m happy to transfer to an ascending club. The enthusiasm I perceived talking to them was important. Moreover, they’ll play in the Champions League. Bundesliga is a great championship. I’m ready and excited.”
Bonucci refused to comment on Juventus and is looking forward to debut with Union Berlin.
“We’ll deal with the matters related to the Bianconeri later on. There’ll be time to say goodbye to the fans. As for the national team, we’ll see. Now it’s important to do well with my new side.”
The defender parted ways with the Old Lady after over 500 caps and 18 trophies. Juventus will contribute to his wages and record a €5.6M loss.
