Bonucci Rejects Bids from Galatasaray and Fenerbahce

Cristiano Giuntoli didn’t leave room for a possible reinstatement of Leonardo Bonucci in his introductory presser. Despite his wishes, the captain isn’t part of the club’s plans. The brass and the coach won’t change their mind. The director admitted the defender wasn’t keen on the offers he received so far.

According to TuttoSport, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray tabled substantial bids for the veteran. They have been convinced a few well-known former Serie A players to join, such as Dries Merentes, Edin Dzeko, Nicolò Zaniolo, and Lucas Torreira. But not the ex-Bianconeri captain for now.

Bonucci is waiting for an offer from Serie A, but it remains to be seen if and when the right one will materialize. He’d like to reunite with Maurizio Sarri at Lazio, but the Biancocelesti don’t appear on the same page. Roma is also on his wish list.

The Old Lady won’t replace the center-back, as Giuntoli stated.

“We have many defenders: Alex Sandro, Danilo, Daniele Rugani, Koni De Winter, and Gleison Bremer. We think we are set. Actually, somebody else could leave.”

Our Take on Bonucci and Juventus

Those would be solid landing spots that would allow him to chase a spot in the Italy squad for Euro 2024. He’s unlikely to do much better, while he’d have to wait for some dominos to unfold to find a taker in the Peninsula.
