Borussia Moenchengladbach Open to Selling Juventus Target

Borussia Moenchengladbach are not having the best season and will reluctantly consider cashing in on their players on expiring contracts in January. In particular, Denis Zakaria and Matthias Ginter, who are being pursued by Juventus and Inter. Roma were after the midfielder too, but they reportedly lost momentum after he changed his agent.

Director Max Eberl told Bild yesterday: “If Zakaria or somebody else told us they want to leave, we would be foolish not to address the matter. We would have to evaluate whether keeping them would be beneficial or not in the second half of the season.” However, the executive left the door open on a last-minute agreement for an extension: “I will be here long-term. I would like to see him prolong his contract before the end of the season.”

The Borussia Moenchengladbach official had dished on the negotiation a couple of weeks ago too: “Zakaria wants wages worthy of a top team. We are in talks with his agent. I do not think we have much of a chance, though. I can not rule out his departure in January.”

According to Tuttosport, Juventus are very high in the Swiss midfielder, who showed off in the recent World Cup qualifier versus Italy. If they managed to offload Aaron Ramsey, they would quickly open talks with Borussia Moenchengladbach. Zakaria has played for the German club since 2017. He has accumulated 139 appearances, tallying 11 goals and 8 assists. Borussia Dortmund and other foreign sides are tracking him too.
