While Gabriel Martinelli turned in a wonderful performance, Brazil lost in shocking fashion after a Cameroon goal in stoppage time. While they dominated possession and created several chances, the favorites’ offense was unable to put the ball in the net in what was a disappointing performance. Despite the poor display, FIFA’s number-one ranked team still finished at the top of Group G.
Ederson – 7
Throughout the match, Ederson was not frequently called upon, but he made a brilliant save when it mattered most. Just before the halftime whistle, Bryan Mbeumo headed a fast-paced cross down at the goal, but Brazil’s goalkeeper made a wonderful dive to keep the score level.
Bremer – 7
The Juventus defender did not have an overly difficult day. He cleaned up loose balls well and provided a typically solid presence on the backline.
Eder Militao – 5.5
Alongside Bremer, Militao was not as consistent as his partner. He failed to pick up Aboubakar’s late run in stoppage time, and the forward easily converted the free header for the win.
Alex Telles – 6.5
While giving Marquinhos a rest, Telles had a quiet match, as Cameroon’s play in the channel failed to test the defender. He left the match with an injury in the 54th minute.
Dani Alves – 6.5
At full-back, the veteran defender won several tackles and was frequently involved in Brazil’s build-up play. However, he turned the ball over too often and at times had problems against Moumi Ngamaleu.
Fred – 7
Fred was one of the more active midfielders in the game. He made several decisive runs and was constantly looking to distribute the ball to the feet of Antony and Martinelli on the wings.
Fabinho – 7
Fabinho had a nice game in the defensive midfield. He won a few tackles and helped Brazil keep the ball moving with its overwhelming possession.
Rodrygo – 6.5
The 21-year-old saw a lot of the ball, but he struggled between the lines, as most of Brazil’s creativity came from the wings. After a decent but quiet showing, Tite removed the midfielder in the 55th minute.
Gabriel Martinelli – 8
From the left wing, the Arsenal man was a creative force for Brazil. He dribbled through Cameroon’s defense with ease, creating several chances for his side.
Antony – 7.5
Antony was electric on the right wing, dancing around the challenges of Nouhou Tolo. He often drifted inside, helping Brazil overload the attacking midfield with quick passing and incisive diagonal runs.
Gabriel Jesus – 6
At striker, Jesus connected well with the midfield and managed two decent shots. However, he was unable to bag a goal for his side when they desperately needed it.
