Breaking: Inter Set to Complete Joaquin Correa’s Signing

Like Robert C. Stevens’s ‘Thunderbolt from a Clear Sky,’ Inter could be on the brink of engineering Joaquin Correa’s arrival from Lazio. Shocking claims from Radio Radio suggest the reigning Serie A holders could soon announce an unexpected signing of the Argentine forward.

Romelu Lukaku’s imminent €115m move to Chelsea has triggered a domino effect that will have a massive impact on the Serie A market. Even though they’ve yet to complete Edin Dzeko’s impending arrival from Roma, Inter seem to be already putting the wheels in motion to raid on another Rome outfit.

Simone Inzaghi, who replaced Antonio Conte in the dugout at the beginning of the summer, helped Correa turn into one of the finest forwards in Serie A. Therefore, Inter’s intent on bringing in the 26-year-old is not surprising.

But, the transfer comes as a somewhat bombshell, given Correa has been linked with a host of Europe’s clubs. And Inter have never been one of them. Not until they decided to cut ties with Lukaku, of course.

Until yesterday, Correa looked to be closest to brokering a move to the Premier League, where Aston Villa and Everton were waiting in the wings. The Lions were particularly interested in securing the ex-Sevilla man’s services. They reportedly even considered tabling a €30m bid to take him away from Lazio.

Well, it now looks like the Premier League won’t be Correa’s next destination. Instead, he could be on the verge of reuniting with his former boss at the Giuseppe Meazza.

The signing of Dzeko alone is not enough to replace one of the most prolific players the Nerazzurri have had in the past decade. So, Inzaghi has decided to bring in two forwards to keep his squad competitive on multiple fronts next term.

Although this news should be taken with a grain of salt, let’s not underestimate Inter’s lure as of yet. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and Correa could indeed team up with the defending Serie A champions soon.
