BREAKING NEWS! Serie A Postponed Due To Coronavirus

The Lega Serie A – the governing body of the Italian football top-flight – had decided to postpone all the five games previously scheduled to be played behind closed doors this weekend due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak in Northern Italy.

The decision applies also to the much-awaited Derby d’Italia between Juventus and Inter, which could play a key role in the battle for the title. All the canceled games are expected to be played on May, 13th.

Below the full statement issued by the Lega Serie A:

In view of the multiple, urgent regulatory measures adopted by the Government to respond to this extraordinary emergency to protect public health and safety; the President of the Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A announces that the following games (…) initially scheduled to be played behind closed doors have been postponed: Juventus-Inter, Milan-Genoa, Parma-SPAL, Sassuolo-Brescia, Udinese-Fiorentina.

The recovery date for the aforementioned matches is set to Wednesday, May 13, 2020. The Coppa Italia Final will consequently be re-scheduled to Wednesday, May 20, 2020.
