Brozovic Not Transferring to Liverpool Despite Links

Liverpool seemingly started pursuing Marcelo Brozovic in the last few days, but his departure from Inter is improbable. The midfielder committed to the Nerazzurri in March by agreeing to a multi-year contract even though major clubs were after him.

As per Corriere dello Sport, the threat of La Beneamata having to sell one of their stars is always looming. However, they are way more likely to part ways with Milan Skriniar or Denzel Dumfries than the Croat. Coach Simone Inzaghi did everything he could to keep him during the extension talks and would do the same if the exit buzz gained any traction.

Fabrizio Romano addressed the chatter linking Brozovic to Liverpool to CaugtOffside.

“Despite some speculations elsewhere, he’s untouchable for Inter. He extended his contract a few months ago and will not leave.”

Still, the Reds will likely sign a midfielder in the final few weeks of the window. According to beIN Sports (via Tuttomercatoweb), they are interested in Ismael Bennacer. However, there have been no contacts between the two clubs, Calciomercato informs. The 24-year-old has a €50M release clause.

While the Inter star isn’t a flight risk, he’s in doubt for the opener versus Lecce due to a sore calf. He sat out the last pre-season friendly against Lecce. As per Sky, the tests ruled out serious issues, but he might not play to be safe.

Our Take on Liverpool Eyeing Brozovic

While the transfer market is always filled with surprises, this would be the most stunning transfer of the last few years. Bennacer moving would be less shocking given the release clause  Though, they are likely just rumors spread by his camp that is angling for a new contract.
