Buffon Praises ‘Logical’ Ronaldo Decision to Leave Juventus

Juventus’ second highest-ever appearance maker Gianluigi Buffon has praised Cristiano Ronaldo for his contributions to the Bianconeri during his three-year tenure.

Speaking to Radio Rai in an exclusive interview, Buffon has bestowed words of kindness for the Portuguese legend who became the first player ever to emerge as top scorer in each of Europe’s top three leagues – Premier League, La Liga and Serie A.

Speaking to the Italian radio (via Tuttomercatoweb), he said: “I think the fans should not be surprised. He has the reputation of a great professional who rightly thinks a lot to himself. In these three years he has made great performances and many goals.”

“I do not see anything illogical in his choice to go away, he has thought about it a lot. I think in the end there was nothing strange. I can only speak well about it. Cristiano, he is a professional who always gives 100%. He thought it was right to go away,” he said, of Ronaldo’s professionality and his intention to experience a nostalgic return back to the club where he first appeared in the limelight as a 18-year-old teenager.

36-year-old Ronaldo left Turin after three years, where he racked up goalscoring charts with 101 goals in total – from his 134 appearances for the club.
