Cagliari Commence Second Half of Campaign on Fire

Just as it seemed like Cagliari were bound to be relegated after their disappointing first half of this year’s Serie A campaign, Walter Mazzarri has managed to rewrite the scriptures regarding the faith of the Rossoblu as they are currently on a fine run of form, allowing themselves to climb away from the formidable grounds of the relegation zone.

Throughout the entirety of the first half of the season, Mazzarri’s men were unable to keep their heads above the vicious waters of the relegation zone as they only managed to obtain ten points within 19 games. Despite the experience and character the Rossoblu possess within their squad, Cagliari underwent a difficult phase as they only managed to score 17 goals and conceded an immense 40 goals.

Since the beginning of the second half of this year’s current Serie A season, the Rossoblu were relentless and more agressive on the pitch  as they managed to obtain a total of 15 points out of 24 points available.

Mazzarri’s men have managed to secure three points against the likes Sampdoria, Bologna, and Atalanta. In addition, they have also secured an impressive 1-1 draw against Napoli, a fixture where the Partenopei were evidently out-played by Cagliari.

Mazzarri has managed to completely transform his team and implement his philosophy in an efficient manner, allowing his side to only be out-performed by Juventus possess the same amount of points as Milan and Napoli within the new calendar year.

With Cagliari’s recent 2-1 victory against Torino away from home, the Rossoblu currently sit in 17th place with a total of 25 points. While Mazzarri’s men possess a five-game unbeaten streak, the Italian tactician aims for his side to maintain consistency as Cagliari prepare to face Lazio at the Stadio Unipol Domus.
