Cagliari Make Radja Nainggolan Return Official

Cagliari officially announced the return of Radja Nainggolan on a season-long loan from Inter. He joined early but he will be not be usable until January 4th, when the January transfer market window will kick off and it will be possible to register new contacts.

The 32-year-old midfielder is at his third stint with the Sardinian club, where he debuted in Serie A in 2010 after being acquired from Piacenza. Nainggolan spent four years with the Rossoblù before moving to Roma and then to Inter in 2018. He came back on loan last season and had one of his most prolific campaigns, registering six goals and seven assists in 26 matches. He has collected a total of 133 appearances with Casteddu, hitting the net 13 times.

Nainggolan played just 45 minutes so far in this season with the Nerazzurri. He briefly talked to the press yesterday after flying to his new destination: “I am happy to return. I put myself at the coach’s disposal at Inter, but I was never given a possibility, which is too bad. I want to resume enjoying playing football. The squad is good and has a lot of promising youngsters. They maybe lack some consistency but it is not easy to have it when you change a lot. I will try to help with my experience. Eusebio Di Francesco wanted me in the summer, but we could not pull it off. I am here now.”

Nainggolan will replace Marko Rog, who will miss the rest of the season with an ACL tear.
