Cagliari Revelation Bellanova Finalizing Inter Move

Raoul Bellanova is about to formally become an Inter player. The fullback is spending the day in Milan Monday to take the medicals and sign his new contract. The Nerazzurri stepped up their efforts to sign him from Cagliari once Ivan Perisic gave in to Tottenham’s courtship.

As things stand, the newcomer will back up Denzel Dumfries, with Matteo Darmian moving to the left flank to alternate with Robin Gosens. The 22-year-old has also occasionally starred there last season. The Milan youth product quickly supplanted Gabriele Zappa and the Sardinians’ other options in his role. He finished with 31 appearances in his first proper Serie A turn, scoring once and providing 2 assists. He played at Pescara, Atalanta and Bordeaux in the previous campaigns but made just two appearances in Ligue 1 and with La Dea.

Inter will pay €4M for the initial loan and will most likely activate their €6M option to buy Bellanova in 2023, SportMediaset informs. He has inked a four-year deal and will earn €1M per season. According to Calciomercato, while Dumfries has garnered some interest, there have not been concrete offers. The Nerazzurri are confident they will not need to sell him this summer. The departure of Milan Skriniar should be enough to fulfill their financial needs. Moreover, the valuation of the Dutchman should continue to go up with another year under his belt.

Our Take on Inter Signing Bellanova

The Cagliari fullback was a revelation in 2021/2022 after joining with little fanfare. It is a strong piece of business for the Rossoblù too, which got him for €700k. He is a ball of energy, and he is perfectly suited to play as a wing-back. The only quibble is that the left-footed Andrea Cambiaso might have been a better fit, but Darmian should have no issue adapting.
