Davide Calabria is ready for the upcoming Derby against Inter: “It will surely be a special day for me, having grown up with the Milan jersey. I recall the great teams when Carlo Ancelotti and Massimiliano Allegri were at the helm. Those were glorious times.”
The defender gave an interview to DAZN: “When you are at this level, all matches are prepared in the same way. But there are always some extra factors when facing Inter. I think it is maybe the best game in the world.”
Calabria recalled his first Derby: “We played at noon due to the Chinese ownerships. It was still a good match, though. We went down two-nil, but we tied with Cristian Zapata at the 97th minute. It is was very emotional, and we shared it with a ton of fans.”
The fullback downplayed Hakan Calhanoglu’s contentious celebration in the first meeting between the two sides: “I did not think it was a penalty kick looking at it from the pitch. It was simply an episode that went against us. We did not take it personally.”
Calabria does not think the Derby will decide the title race: “It is too soon for that. We want to win to get closer, and we will see where we are at Sunday. Championships are won in matches like the Spezia one when things are not going your way, and you take home three points with a late goal.”
The Italian international has clear ideas about his future: “I have been at Milan my whole life, and I hope that does not change for the rest of my career. Then, it is not only up to me to decide. In any case, that is my wish now.”
