Calafiori Favors Juventus over Chelsea and Leverkusen

Juventus would like to help Thiago Motta with some pieces he’s already familiar with, and Riccardo Calafiori has long been their top target to bolster the defense. They have the inside track over the competition, but a complete agreement hasn’t been struck at this stage, Alfredo Pedullà informed.

The Felsinei would like to keep their cornerstones. Joshua Zirkzee is the only one they don’t have much control over due to a release clause. But they’ll get pragmatic if the fees get to considerable levels, and the player asks to go. They’ll follow the Atalanta model, which haven’t been shy about cashing in and retooling.

Juventus will have to disburse at least €25M plus add-ons for Calafiori, or insert a makeweight that could entice the counterparty. The defender would rather stay in Italy and move to Turin even though he has received interest from Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bianconeri offered him €1.8M per year plus add-ons in their opening offer and will have to improve it to come to terms. They are also closing on Monza’s Michele Di Gregorio in a €20M deal, Gianluca Di Marzio informs. Andrea Cambiaso and Daniele Rugani have inked their renewals, Goal’s Romeo Agresti reports.

Our Take on Juventus, Bologna, and Calafiori

Despite the insistent rumors, the Rossoblù are in a good spot concerning the defender, other than a resale clause they’ll have to give Basel. It’ll be interesting to see whether they’ll be practical, as it’ll still be a major profit, or put up fierce resistance to put a spoke in the wheel of the team that will steal their coach from under their nose.
